Herons are awesome fish flippers, putting just the right spin on the fish so it goes down head first.

Fortunately, this is a healthy Ibis, that seems to have found a chicken bone.

Unfortunately, they do the same thing with baited hooks. Their interest in bait not only causes death because of the hook in the stomach, but they very often become entangled in fishing line. Then when they roost at night the line becomes entangled in the branches and they cannot escape. Starvation is a very slow and painful death.

Please do not litter.

Many of the Ibis that are rescued have become entangled in litter like fishing line or six pack rings. They also suffer broken wings from a variety of mishaps, including power lines and automobiles.
